Under 9's play SSF at AAMI Park!

Thanks to our great friends at Melbourne Victory, 20 x Under 9 players got the fantastic opportunity to play Small Sided Football at half time during Melbourne Victory’s clash against North Queensland Fury last Sunday, August 22, at AAMI Park.  The kids were (of course) very excited, as were the parents.  Thanks goes to Vicki & Tania for their help in making this happen.

2010 Chocolates Fundraising Drive

So far we have collected over $7,400 in our Chocolates Fundraising Drive but we've got a way to go to reach our target of $9000!  Help us to reach our goal - sell those chocolates and get the funds back to your team managers!!

A night to remember!

Last Wednesday night, (with thanks to Nicholas Dhar) I was privileged enough to be with Paul Wade from our Wheelchair team at Etihad Stadium to watch Everton FC play Melbourne Heart in a friendly match.

Paul is a massive Everton fan and was looking forward to watching a top flight match with his brother, Mark and carer, Cheryl but not only did Paul get to watch the match but we were able to spring a little surprise on him as well....

Thanks to the lovely Susie Parker from Everton FC, we arranged for Paul to meet the players from Everton FC (and our man Tim Cahill) before the match.  To say that he was speechless was an understatement!  Paul met the players & Tim and had an Everton top signed for him as well.  The young man on the right of the photo also got Tim's autograph on some items which we will be auctioning later in the year to raise some money for the club and to help out members of the wheelchair team with some new machinery.

It was definitely a night to remember.

See the 'Flames'!!!

Through the drive & initiative of our Club Secretary, Peter Cass, and with help from the FFV, we fielded our first ever Wheelchair Soccer team.  Our players - Chris, Clinton, Sam & Paul (and Amy who filled in for us as well) battled against the might of Glen Eira in what was an eye opening experience for us as first time spectators.  I can truly say that by watching these players and their enthusiastic parents & carers, I have never felt so proud of our club and what our beautiful game can do for others in the community.  I urge everyone in the club to find some time on a Saturday morning/afternoon, to watch our team in action down at Springers Leisure Centre, Keysborough.  Yes, it can be a little confronting but you will soon realise why these games are so beneficial to all those involved.

To find out when our Knox United 'Flames' are playing go to Wheelchair South-East Seniors in FFV Fixtures
