Playing Time

We expect coaches, managers and parents to talk, at length, at the beginning of the season about the approach to be taken to selecting players for matches. The coach has a responsibility to try and give all players a rewarding season and likewise players and parents have a responsibility to assist the coach fulfil that obligation.  Remember – it’s just a game!

The Club’s policies relating to team selection and match playing time have been developed from the Club’s philosophy that soccer should be based on the principles of fun & enjoyment, fair play, good sportsmanship, and skill & fitness development.

MINIROOS (U/8 to U11)

All registered and financial players who regularly attend training sessions & and show a willingness to participate in set activities shall be given "fair and reasonable" playing time - equal game time is not guaranteed.  With the continuation of the interchange player rule, there is no reason why players should not have ample playing time in all matches.

JUNIOR TEAM PLAYERS (U/12 & ABOVE)

All registered and financial players who regularly attend training & and show a willingness to participate in set activities shall be allowed to play as frequently as possible and also enjoy "fair and reasonable" playing time. FV (Football Victoria) policy states that players should have at least 35% game time across the entirety of the season (unless illness or injury conflicts with this) - equal game time is not guaranteed.  This also allows the coach the ability to keep stronger or more strategic players on the pitch longer if the requirement is considerable.

MENS & WOMENS SENIOR TEAMS
For all senior teams game time is at the discretion of the coaching staff. It is an expectation that all players attend all compulsory training sessions as indicated by the relevant coach and to arrive at games at the time specified by the coach or team manager. If acceptable reasons are not provided for either of the above, coaches may decide to lessen game time for the player. This applies to all players in a team regardless of their ability.
