SSG (Small Side Games) have been introduced
by Football Federation of
Victoria as a means to introduce young children to football in a fun,
relaxed manner with the focus on smaller numbers participating in a
fun game
enironment.. The thinking behind SSG is that fewer numbers means each
child
participating should spend more time "on the ball" developing
their skills.
As such, here at Knox United, we are introducing three to four SSG
squads
(depending on age and numbers interested). These squads will participate
over the winter period. More info on SSG can be found at http://footballfedvic.com.au/development/ssg/
What ages groups are eligible?
Any and all children, boys and girls, aged between 5 and 8 inclusive
(if you
turn 8 in 2008, then you are deemed Under 8 and eligible for SSG's.
How long does it last for?
Knox United is planning to hold two SSG "seasons" per year.
The first one
will be over the winter period and in line with the regular FFV season.
The
second one is planned to occur over the summer months after the FFV
season.
It is planned to hold one SSG session per age group per week, and we
plan
that these sessions go for 1 hours duration.
When is it?
The Winter SSG program will be run every Monday night from April 7
to August 18 from 6:30 -7:30pm.
Please note that no session is to be held on the Queens Birthday holiday
in June.
Where is it?
Rowville Community Centre - Futsal/Tennis Courts, Fulham Rd, Rowville.
How much is it?
Each season (and there are 2 per annum) will cost $100 per child. This
will
cover a full seasons coaching and training and the supply of balls
and
training equipment. Other costs such as boots, uniforms (if desired)
etc etc
are NOT covered by this cost.
